Basilea is the Greek word for “kingdom.” We recently changed our name from ELM (English Language Ministry) to Basilea Ministries because we felt that we needed a new identity. Instead of having an identity that shows the language in which we worship, we wanted an identity that shows our purpose and vision. In the Lord’s Prayer, we say, “Your kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.” We embrace this as our purpose and vision for our ministry, and for our lives: to advance the Kingdom of God.
Bible- We strive for Kingdom values by being rooted in God’s Word. “All scripture is God breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.” - 2 Timothy 3:16-17
Alliance- We strive for Kingdom oneness and not allow our differences to separate us. “There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.” – Galatians 3:28
Supplication- We strive for Kingdom advancement by praying for one another and for the world. “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.” – Philippians 4:6
International- We strive for Kingdom diversity by welcoming people of all nations, cultures, and ethnicities. “My house will be called a house of prayer for all nations.” – Mark 11:17
Love- We strive for Kingdom love by giving heart-felt worship to God and accepting one another as God accepts us. “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind and love your neighbor as yourself.” – Luke 10:27
Evangelism- We strive for Kingdom expansion by sharing the message of salvation in Jesus Christ. ”So do not be ashamed to testify about our Lord” – 2 Timothy 1:8
Anointing- We strive for Kingdom power by relying on the Holy Spirit for strength and gifts. “For you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you.” – Acts 1:8
