Have you taken the first step in interacting with the Basilea website? What is that first step you ask? You need to create a user account. Not quite sure how to do that? Then, read this tutorial. It will walk you through all the steps in creating a user account on the Basilea website.
This tutorial will walk you through creating a user account on the Basilea website. First, let's talk about what the benefits of creating a user account are. People who have a user account will be able to post comments and have then appear on the website instantly. People without user accounts need to wait for their comments to get approval. Also, people who have an account will be able to create content such as joys and concerns.
NOTE: To create a user account, you must have a valid e-mail address. No other personal information is required.

1. If you scroll down on the right side, you should see an image similar to the one on the left. If you already have a username and password, you would simply enter them and be logged in. This tutorial assumes that you have not yet created an account. Click the "Create new account" link and you should see something similar to the image below.
2. Clicking the "Create new account" link, you should see an image similar to the one on the right. At this point, you just need to type in your username and a valid e-mail address. Your initial password and login information will be sent to the e-mail address that you provide. Once both those fields are entered, be sure to answer the math question listed. The purpose of this question, is to verify that a human is creating this account and not a machine.
3. Here we see the same screen with all the fields filled in. Once you are sure all the information is correct, click on the "Create new account" button and you should see something similar to the image below.
4. After clicking on the "Create new account" button, you should see an image similar to the one on the right. Notice the grey message box above the Basilea group picture. This box gives further instructions regarding the newly created account. Now, you need to go and login to the e-mail account that you specified earlier.
5. In our example, I have logged into my Basilea e-mail account and see that I have a new message from "Basilea Ministries." When you open the message, you will see something similar to the image on the left. You only need concern yourself with the link located in the middle of the screen. Click that link, and you should see something similar to the image below.
6. Clicking on the link in the e-mail, you should see an image similar to the one on the right. Notice that the password that was provided in the e-mail is meant to be a temporary password. Click the "Log in" button, and you will see something similar to the image below.
7. Clicking on the "Log in" button, you should see something similar to the image on the left. Notice the grey message box towards the top of the screen. As it recommends, you should change your password at this time.
8. When you type-in your password, you will notice a few things. The first thing you will notice is that there is a "Password stength" indicator. The computer will let you know how strong your password is. The theory is the stronger your password, the less likely someone else will be able to figure it out. When you type your password to confirm, you will see a "Password match" indicator. The other thing you will notice is another grey box below the password fields. The message box provides suggestions for making your password stronger. As we look further down the page, you will see an image similar to the one below.
9. Looking further down the page, you will see something similar to the one on the left. The next option is to upload an image that other users will be able to see. This is optional and we will not go into details about how to do that here. Next is the "Personal contact form" check box. This option has no impact on the Basilea website at this current time. Lastly, you can change the default time zone. Once you have made all the changes you want, click the "Save" button and you will see an image similar to the one below.
10. When you click the "Save" button, you will see an image similar to the one on the right. The grey message box will confirm that the changes you've made have been saved. You will also notice that the password field is empty. This is normal. If you wished to change your password again, you would just have to enter a new password in the appropriate field. Now, you have completed creating a user account. All that is left is to enjoy the website.
